JMAC 2011 All-Tamiya Mini-4WD Official Rules and Regulations for now!!!


ALLOWED CAR/CHASSIS SPECIFICATIONS:

All Cars and Hop Up Parts must be original Tamiya or Tamiya-Related Products. Other specifications include:

Car Models
All cars and its subsequent car parts are open to any available model of Tamiya including the Older Versions, Type, Dash, Racing, Super, Fully Cowled, Aero and Mighty series. The competition allows use of the body cover of the Mechanical and MS Pro series. Stock injection molded and clear bodies must be painted or stickered. Disallowed are the Wild, Comical, Tuckin', and Crush Gear mini series.

Rollers
Minimum 4; Maximum 6. Tamiya Rear skid rollers are not considered rollers. Tamiya 7x2, 8x5, 9x5, 11x5, 13x5, 17 & 19 mm rollers are the only ones allowed during the race. All rollers must be rotating and not fixed. All rollers must include roller caps. Bushing caps must be top and bottom. Washers are not allowed.


Wheel Bearings
Allowed are Tamiya stock plastic, round hole, hex, and steel bearings. Tamiya RC 2x5 with inset and 2x6 bearings are also allowed.



Brakes
Only Tamiya pointed brake pads are allowed. Only Tamiya rear brake sets and sliding damper brake sets are allowed in conjunction with the Tamiya pointed brakes. Extended or Lowered brake sets are not allowed. H5 and H6 attachments of Tamiya rear skid rollers are allowed to connect the rear brake or sliding damper brake sets to dash or type 3 chassis.


Motor
Tamiya type 130 motors unopened and untampered with 8 teeth pinion gears of white, violet or red color are allowed. 12 teeth pinion gears of brown color will be also allowed as long as it is specified on the type of chassis being used most specifically dash or type 3 chassis.


Drive format
4 wheel drive only, with 8 teeth propeller shaft present and working when registering.

Gears
No mixing of gears. Gear ratios must follow the specifications found on boxes of Tamiya M4WD kits – 11.2:1 (yellow/dark green), 6.4:1 (grey/dark green), 5:1 (blue/light green), 4.2:1 (red/flesh), 4:1 (black/flesh), 3.5:1 (light blue/yellow) and Special Ratio (grey/grey or mustard/mustard). A specific gear ratio is not restricted to a particular chassis model only but must fit the gear section of that chassis without resorting to modifications in order to be used.

For crown gears, any combination of orange or pink crown gears are allowed. Allowed also are combination of blue, orange or pink gears for dash, type 3 or similar chassis.



Battery
Only Alkaline, NiCD & NiMH batteries (AA SIZE) will be allowed for the races.

Wheels and Tires
Strictly 22.0 mm minimum wheel diameter. Any type of tire material is allowed as long as it meets the specification and comes from original Tamiya mini-4WD products. For wheels, any combination of small, medium or large diameter wheels of narrow or wide profile are allowed. For wheel modifications, the following are allowed: small to medium conversion, narrow to wide conversion, lock nut to stock conversion, and mechanical to stock conversion. One way wheel set must be rotating and may not be converted to stock. Other modifications must be shown to the head marshal before entry to confirm if it is allowed.


Screws
All protruding screws under the chassis especially at the front roller mount are not allowed. Other screws can be used as long as the length of the non Tamiya screw is equivalent to the Set A to Set D screw.



ALLOWED CAR/CHASSIS MODIFICATIONS:

Chassis and Cover


Cover may be modified to fit another chassis but must retain its original shape of at least __%.



The following chassis are allowed: Type Series, Zero, Super 1, Super 2, FM, Super FM, Super TZ, Super TZX, X, XX, and VS. Ms Pro Chassis is not yet allowed. Future releases of Tamiya chassis model may be allowed as long as it is 4WD format and does not use double shaft motors. Modification on chassis is only allowed to strengthen the wing of the chassis. The following are allowed to be used: glue, epoxy, tissue, cd cover, and silicone. However, plastic moldings, hop-up parts, modified hop-up parts (cut or re-shaped) and non mini-4WD scrap materials are not allowed aside from those listed above are not allowed. For front motor or similar chassis, only the top portion of the wing is allowed to be reinforced while for rear motor chassis like the tz or similar chassis, either the top or bottom portion only is allowed to be reinforced. Another modification that is allowed is cutting specific portions of the chassis in order to accommodate nimh batteries or similar improvements on performance.


Gears
Gear modification is not allowed. Propeller shaft gears must be 8 teeth only.


Motor
OPEN/TAMPERED MOTORS are not allowed and they must come from the Mabuchi or Tamiya range of brands.

d. Brake Sets

Only modification allowed on this gray brake set is cutting the sides where rear stay rollers are placed and painting the brake set. Pinioned or nutted screw adjusters may also be used. Reinforcing the brake pads inside the brake set slots is also allowed. Other modifications must be shown to the head marshal before entry to confirm if it is allowed.



Other Hop Up Parts
Other hop parts may be used with functions other than that as stated in their packaging for as long as they are for reinforcement purposes. However, cutting of frp use for front bumper, side extensions, and other similar parts IS NOT ALLOWED. It is suggested that prior to race entry of M4WDs, racers should show modification to marshals/organizers for approval.


FOR YOUR INFORMATION THE JMAC 2011 RULE WRITTEN HERE SHOULD BE FOLLOWED FOR PROPER CHASSIS SETUP. CHASSIS SETUP MODIFICATION WILL CHANGE IT'S PREFORMANCE AND TESTING. IF CHASSIS SETUP IS NOT APPLIED TO THE SAID RULES ORGANIZER/MARSHAL WILL DISQUALIFY MEMBER OR NOT ALLOW PARTICIPATING.
